Event to be held at Big Cottonwood Regional Park in Millcreek, Utahns will celebrate the states 65000 refugees

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (June 15, 2023) - Utahns will celebrate the states 65,000 refugees at the 18th Annual World Refugee Day festival.

The event will be held on Friday, June 17, and Saturday, June 18, at Big Cottonwood Regional Park in Millcreek. World Refugee Day is a global event that celebrates the strength and resilience of refugees around the world. This year's festival will feature food, music, dance, and other activities that will highlight the contributions of refugees to Utah. “We are excited to celebrate the contributions of refugees to our state,” said Natalie El-Nakdali, director of the Utah Department of Workforce Services Refugee Services Office. “This event is a way to show our appreciation for the many ways refugees have enriched our communities.” The festival will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday, June 17, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 18.
